March is upon us, and a new theme begins with it! We will study and learn about insects and bugs, something the kids love and find fascinating.
So this week, we made giant beetles resting on a leaf this week!
They had shiny wings made of foil, which the kids decorated using permanent markers, experimenting with their own design and patterns.
Once the wings were finally in place, it was time to give these poor beetles some legs to move! So the kids got on to choose, measure, and cut six colorful legs. The beetles could finally move, but still one final piece was necessary: eyes!
How can they roam around without eyes, right? Some kids chose large round eyes, some chose more moderate sizes, but in the end all the beetles were complete.
Lastly, we gave them a gigantic leaf to sit on, and the kids proceeded to add some colorful worms for snacks, or extra bug friends, resting on the leaf.
They loved playing with their new beetles afterwards, and they all looked so good!
