Let’s learn about baking: an axperiment.

This month, the K-classes are learning about baking in Science Class.
Last week, we discussed what we need for baking and divided the ingredients into wet and dry groups.
To help them understand the role of each ingredient, this week we performed a real experiment at school: a microwave cup-cake!

First, we collected all the necessary tools, then we wrote a recipe on the board and go ready to study the difference between a cake made with all the ingredients and one made without eggs!

The students took turns to mix in the flour, sugar, milk, oil, baking soda, and a pinch of salt, before the final addition of the egg. It was so fun to see how they all mixed together!
The No-egg mix was so sticky!

Once ready, we spooned the batter into cups, and it was time to microwave them under the teacher’s supervision. Watching them rise and change during cooking was thrilling. Not to mention the nice smell.

The outcome was so surprising! The normal cake turned out tall, fluffy, soft, and full of big holes, while the no egg cake was crumbly, dens,e and very small!

We couldn’t wait to taste them after lunch and check the texture! What a yummy science day!
