This week in our K1, K2, and K3 science classes, we continued our September weather unit with Teacher Lawrence by exploring the fascinating water cycle. After learning about how water moves through evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, we decided to create our very own “Water Cycle in a Bag!”
Using small plastic bags, water, and a sunny window, we set up the bag with water to be placed in the sunny window. The we waited for the sun to work its magic. The idea was to watch the water evaporate, condense at the top of the bag, and eventually “rain” back down, collecting at the bottom.
The kids were so excited to observe the process firsthand, eagerly checking the bag throughout the day. This hands-on experiment helped them visualize how the sun drives the water cycle and how rain is created.
It’s been an exciting journey learning about weather, and our water cycle bags will continue to help us see the wonders of nature in action. We’re looking forward to more science fun next week!
