This week, our science lesson was all about penguins and snow! To make the topic even more exciting, we created our own fake snow using just two simple ingredients: baking soda and conditioner.
The kids were amazed as we mixed the two ingredients together, watching the texture change right before their eyes. Soon, we had soft, cool, and crumbly “snow” that felt surprisingly real! Everyone had a chance to touch and play with it, molding it into little snowballs and even building tiny snow penguins.
We talked about how penguins live in snowy environments and how they adapt to their cold surroundings. Creating our own snow was a fun way to connect to their world while also exploring science through a hands-on activity.
This lesson was a huge hit, combining creativity, sensory play, and learning all in one. Who knew making snow could be so easy—and so much fun?
